Wes Modes Receives Grant from Arts Council of Santa Cruz County

Artistic Collaborators awarded $1500 to create New Media Work Co-related Space

The Arts Council of Santa Cruz County awarded Wes Modes and collaborators Lanier Sammons and Brent Townshend a Create Grant of $1500 to support their creation of a new media work Co-related Space.

Co-related Space is an interactive multimedia installation that engages the themes of presence, interaction, and place. Using motion tracking, laser light and a generative soundscape, it encourages interactions between participants, visually and sonically transforming a regularly trafficked space. Co-related Space highlights participants’ active engagement and experimentation with sound and light, including complex direct and indirect behavior and relationships.

The piece makes its debut at the Digital Art and New Media Open Studios, University of California Santa Cruz on June 6th, 2014. In October, it will appear as part of the Santa Cruz Museum of Art and History’s GLOW Fire Festival. In June, is a possible summer show at the San Jose Tech Museum of Innovation.
