Hacktivism 101: Internet Sleuthing

I taught a workshop through Free Skool on using public Internet sources to search out details on individuals and companies.

We will be teaching how to dive into the annals of the Net in order to track people, companies, and/or things through public online sources.  Ever wonder where your old friends from high school went?  Who is that person who is always posting anonymously on the local newspaper forums?  Let’s get together and find out!  Should be a lot of fun and very informative.

Used public sources (principally Google) to search company info, email addresses, screen names, whois, county records, and so on.  We also discussed the danger of having one’s sensitive information out there in the public eye.

Half a dozen people came and learned how to be amateur internet sleuths.
