If you remember, my connectivity diagram (such as it is) looks something like this:
Now we get down to brass tacks and create the network. I’ve shifted things a bit, so now my net connectivity diagram (such as it is) looks something like this:
That means tracking down a wireless router to make a private wifi network. What happened to the small stack of LinkSys routers I used to have? Who knows. Meadhbh and Wayne both kicked down their unused routers that I’ve struggled with all day. Meadhbh’s router was a relatively compact, but unsophisticated “my essentials” router, while Wayne’s was a behemoth combo router and DSL modem that takes forever to boot, but is pretty sophisticated.
I got a reasonable secure WPA2 wifi network setup to my satisfaction. Then I had to fiddle with the wpa_supplicant files a bit to get the RPi to authenticate to the fomophobia network.
Mission accomplished. Uh wait, why isn’t the address 192.168.1.something? Ah, shit now I need to go check that.
